Transformations of Identity: The Political Psychology of War Rape in Bosnia

Speaker: Dr. Inger Skjelsbæk
Dr. Inger Skjelsbæk is deputy director at the Peace Research Institute Oslo as a psychologist and peace researcher, specializing in sexual violence in war. The lecture examines developments in the scholarly understandings of the impact and use of sexual violence in war, and also discusses methodological and ethical concerns. It will discuss her experiences of fieldwork in Bosnia, and interactions with victims and survivors of war traumas. This event is co-organised by the Irish School of Ecumenics and the Trinity Centre for Post-Conflict Justice through Research Incentive Scheme Funding from the Trinity Long Room Hub.
