Islamic Studies Events 27-28 March 2012

Prof. John Renard, an Islamic Studies scholar from St. Louis University, will visit the School of Religions, Theology, and Ecumenics, and the Long Room Hub, Trinity College Dublin on 27 and 28 March 2012.  We do hope that you will find the following events of interest:

1. A public lecture on Tuesday, March 27, 5-7pm at the Long Room Hub. The lecture is entitled “‘Friends of God’ in Islamic Devotion and Visual Arts” (i.e. mostly on Sufismus; Prof. Renard has written two books about this).

2. On Wednesday, March 28, 11am to 1pm, a seminar session on his new book “Islam and Christianity: Theological Themes in Comparative Perspective” at the Irish School of Ecumenics (ISE), Trinity College Dublin, Milltown Park, Ranelagh, Dublin 6: 3rd floor lecture room.

3. On Wednesday, March 28, 3-5pm, a conversation with academic staff, research students, etc., about his current research project “Anthology of Islamic Theology”; in the Seminar Room of the Long Room Hub.
