ISE graduate Colleen Brown will speak at our annual alumni event on Thursday 28 June. The event coincides with the MPhil. commencements (now on Friday 29 June)
Date: Thursday 28 June 2012
Time: 5.30 – 7.00 p.m.
Venue: IIIS, (Seminar room and foyer 6th Floor, Arts Building, Trinity College Dublin).
Colleen’s academic and practitioner background includes an MA Pastoral Ministry (Boston College), MPhil Ecumenical Studies (Trinity College Dublin), and MA Mental Health Counselling & Arts Therapies (Lesley University), as well as extensive clinical and community-based experience in the US, Southern Africa, South America, Australia and Ireland and Northern Ireland. Her primary interest is in accompanying people as they work through experiences of trauma, toward post-traumatic growth. Most recently, Colleen coordinated a programme called Journey Towards Healing, funded by the Northern Ireland government, based at Niamh (Northern Ireland Association for Mental Health), and engaged with both victims and survivors of trauma and faith leaders and pastoral workers. The programme, through the process of organising and following on from an international conference (2011), has also provided a platform for local and international dialogue about the relationship between ‘trauma and spirituality’ and the holistic impact of trauma, on people, communities and society.
As has been the tradition at ISE, we are looking forward to hosting graduating students and their families together with current students, alumnae and alumni and friends. We do hope that you will be able to join us then.
