During the opening days of the programme, participants enter reflection on the various ways of Naming and Thinking God (theme 1) across Europe, acknowledging different cultures of faith and conceptual religious boundaries defining them. Linking this manifold discussion with the theological topic of religious witness, the first week revisits the ecumenical concepts of mission for the 21st century in a thematic bloc titled From World Mission to Interreligious Witness (theme 2).
The second week concentrates on interreligious studies and focuses on religious processes, in which intercultural and interreligious challenges intersect. Here, the programme, on the one hand, turns to distinct settings in the Dialogues of Religions (theme 3); Christian-Muslim, Christian-Hindu, Hindu-Muslim. On the other hand, it explores the interwoven phenomena of Fluid Religions and New Modernity (theme 4), giving evidence to a quickly changing religious landscape and Europe’s search for religion in a “new modernity” driven by various intercultural and interreligious processes.
