Ambassador Roma Buzek, Ambassador to Slovakia, spoke refreshingly to International Peace Studies MPhil students on November 16. In a stimulating discussion that extended to coffee afterwards, Ambassador Buzek presented some reflections on his experience of Slovakia’s bid for non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council and on weaknesses in the UN system.
Ambassador Buzek was Director-General for the UN (twice) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia, where he was involved in Slovakias membership in the UN SC 2005/06. He also chaired roundtables on the role of the UN in post-conflict security sector reform at the UN.
